Ο Μητροπολίτης Νουβίας Σάββας, μαζί με άλλους πιστούς είχανε βρεθεί εγκλωβισμένοι στο κτίριο της Μητρόπολης στο Χαρτούμ κατά την έναρξη του εμφυλίου.
